World Bank

The World Bank Group consists of five associated organizations – the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development or the World Bank, International Development Association, International Finance Corporation, the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency and the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes.

The main role of the World Bank is lending to developing countries and countries in transition in order to help them reduce poverty and finance economic growth. The Bank also provides advisory services for the development of reform programmes to help implement all-embracing programmes for national sustainable development, microeconomic and financial stability and structural reforms. The Bank’s programme supports Latvia’s accession process to the European Union.
